Based on the agreement with the Philology Department Olga Mironova performed lectures and practical lessons on the topics ‘Russian traditions and culture’, ‘Russian holidays’. The lectures were conducted from June 12th to June 14th.

The European research department students learn Russian as a foreign language. Their syllabus includes lectures on culture, traditions and modern tendencies of juvenile policy in Russia. All in all, 3 lectures and 4 practical lessons were held. There were some students among them who originally came from Russia, but later moved for permanent stay to Germany. The guys learned about state, folk, family and religious holidays in Russia. The presentation was devoted to public holidays celebration traditions and the ways of spending free time. On June 12th, Russia Day, the students watched the film ‘My Russia and My Love’. They asked questions and compared national German holidays with Russian ones. They also had listening and reading comprehension tasks as well as made up dialogues. One of the tasks consisted in creating their own holiday and creating a presentation about it. Their final task was to make up congratulation cards for their friends and relatives on various occasions – New Year and Christmas, February 23rd and March 8th, Maslenitsa, May 1st and Victory Day, professional holidays, Builders’ and Teachers’ Days, Savior of the Honey Feast Day, Day of Knowledge, Holy Protection, National Unity Day.

It was not O. Mironova’s first visit to the University of Magdeburg. She had earlier taken part in the work of the round table devoted to the problems concerning learning modern Russian language by foreign students. The partnership is sure to continue with consequential holding teledebates and discussions, launching academic exchange programs between NSPU named after K.Minin and the University named after Otto von Guericke.
